THE CAMBRIDGE GAME PLAN

Okay, so you’ve learned the basics about the Science Test. Now you need a game plan tailored to your Science needs. Remember, however, that the ‰ƒ‡ ’Žƒ „‡Ž‘™ ‹…Ž—†‡• •—‰‰‡•–‹‘•ǡ ‘– Šƒ”†Ǧƒ†Ǧˆƒ•– ”—Ž‡•Ǥ ‹… ™Šƒ– works for you and discard the rest. Check the Science Test before you start to work, especially the number of passages, how many problems are paired with each passage, and which passages are which type. Before reading any of the Science passages, quickly glance over them and code them according to passage-type: Data Representation (DR), Research —ƒ”› ȋ Ȍǡ ‘” ‘ϐŽ‹…–‹‰ ‹‡™’‘‹–• ȋ ȌǤ ‘†‹‰ –Š‡ ’ƒ••ƒ‰‡• Š‡Ž’• to determine the order in which to attack them. Additionally, the subject ƒ––‡” ‹ ƒ ’ƒ••ƒ‰‡ ƒ› ‹ϐŽ—‡…‡ –Š‡ †‹ˆϐ‹…—Ž–› Ž‡˜‡Ž ›‘— ƒ••‹‰ –‘ ‹–Ǥ Coding the passages should take no more than 20–30 seconds. Once the coding is done, plan the order of attack—which passages to read ϐ‹”•–ǡ •‡…‘†ǡ –Š‹”†ǡ ‡–…Ǥ ‘’Ž‡–‡ –Š‡ ‡ƒ•‹‡•– ’ƒ••ƒ‰‡• ϐ‹”•– ƒ† •ƒ˜‡ –Š‡ ‘•– †‹ˆϐ‹…—Ž– ’ƒ••ƒ‰‡• ˆ‘” Žƒ•–Ǥ Š‹• ƒ’’”‘ƒ…Š ™‹ŽŽ ‹…”‡ƒ•‡ –Š‡ —„‡” ‘ˆ correct answers by ensuring that the easier passages are completed. One consideration has a higher priority than all the others: save the debate ˆ‘”ƒ– ȋ ‘ϐŽ‹…–‹‰ ‹‡™’‘‹–•Ȍ ’ƒ••ƒ‰‡• —–‹Ž Žƒ•–Ǥ Š‡ ‡‡† –‘ •›–Š‡•‹œ‡ information from different viewpoints makes these passages the most challenging for many students. For the other passages, there will be two to four questions requiring nothing more than reading values from a graph or a chart—without any real comprehension required. Complete these ’ƒ••ƒ‰‡• ϐ‹”•–Ǩ
