Debrief Use Commas for Clarity 1. Use a comma if the sentence might be subject to different interpretations without it. 2. Use a comma if a pause would make the sentence clearer and easier to read. The Cambridge Edge Use the breath ϐ out whether you need a comma. If you read a sentence aloud, you will hear how a natural pause suggests where a comma should be inserted.
