Sample Essay—Below Average Response I agree with the third perspective that online communication is a positive change. You can read information from all over the world and keep in touch with family and friends who live far away. Some people argue that online communication is not real communication, I disagree. When my family and I moved to another state, I was afraid that I would lose touch with all of my friends from home. However, thanks to email, and Facebook, we have stayed in contact. I think the smartphone is the most important piece of technology for staying connected with other people because you can take it with you everywhere. No matter where I am. I can text my friends, send them photos through Instagram, or see what their up to on social media. I know that commenting one someone’s Twitter post isn’t enough to stay friends with them, but for people who I really care about, I can always message them directly or video chat with them. The video chat makes it very easy to have a conversation. Online communication also makes it easier to get information from all over the world. For example, if you need to do business with people from another country, you can contact them right away instead of waiting several days for a response. It’s also easier to learn about global topics because there’s so much information on the internet. It’s true that I would feel lonely, as perspective 2 says, if I only talked to people online. However, online communication makes it easier to talk to people who I can’t see face to face.
