Sample Essay—Below Average Response Technology has no place in pre-K classrooms. Children this young cannot use technology properly, and they will only break expensive products like computers and tablets. Technology actually might ǯ Ǥ ϔ and unable to work in groups. I agree with Perspective 1 I think that the biggest reason not to use technology in the classroom is that it’s too expensive and can brake easily. A desktop costs hundreds of dollars, and even though tablets are a little cheaper, they still cost at least $100. Kids are too young to appreciate how expensive these things are and can’t learn to use them properly. Since it’s impossible for a teacher to supervise so many students at once, kids might misuse and damage the technology, and it would be really expensive to repair or replace it. Perspectives 2 and 3 argue that technology is good for making kids learn, but I think that it can actually make kids less creative. It might help them learn a certain skill, like counting, but it can stop kids from thinking for themselves. They depend on computers to create games for them, instead of using their imaginations and thinking of their own games. I also think that technology is bad for kids’ social skills. Instead of playing games with others, they are all alone on a computer game. They don’t learn important skills like sharing and how to act in groups. This could make kids more materialistic they take technology for granted and expect their parents to buy them these expensive things. Although I see how technology can be helpful in the classroom, I think it’s better for older kids. Pre-K students are too young to use technology properly and should focus instead on building their creativity and social skills.
