It can even cause health issues for people who live nearby. However, we use fossil fuels for so many things, like heating and driving, so we have no choice but to do it. People who argue against fracking argue that it causes environmental problems. For example, if the well used for drilling isn’t built correctly, gas and chemicals could leak out and pollute the surrounding community. I even heard that it could cause earthquakes because you have to dig so deeply underground. These environmental problems can be harmful for the surrounding communities. Water pollution can kill animals that live nearby and can also cause health problems for humans. Wouldn’t want to live in a community that was harmed by fracking. Just look at past oil spills to see how much damage drilling can do. For example, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010 killed workers, destroyed local ecosystems, and is still contaminating the water. However, the reality is that we still need fossil fuels, so fracking might be a good thing.
